What are your standards for beekeeping and extracting honey?
We bee-lieve we have the absolute highest standards in the industry. Our beekeepers tend to the honeybees without the use of treatments or chemicals. Our beekeepers don’t use pesticides or herbicides on their properties, either. We wait until our bees have capped off each honey store completely with beeswax before extracting the honey. By capping off their stores, they signal to the world that their nectar has become honey. We make sure not to prematurely intervene during this phenomenal, natural process. These standards ensure we can continue to provide the purest, most natural tasting RAW honeys on the market.
What makes honey RAW?
The technical definition of raw honey is very loose: it just means not heated past pasteurization. Great, now what does that mean? It’s important to first understand what happens inside a beehive. When honeybees are at work, their collective body temperature rises and consequently warms their work area – that is, the honey. The temperature of an active hive, therefore, is about 95ºF (35ºC), and the honey is stable and “alive” – or rather, the enzymes in honey that give it the nutritional and beneficial qualities are alive. As long as the temperature of honey does not significantly rise past 95ºF/35ºC, the honey has not been pasteurized.
What are the benefits of RAW Honey?
- Good Source of Antioxidants
- Antibacterial and Antifungal

What should I do if the honey crystallizes?
Honey is a super-saturated solution of two sugars: glucose and fructose. The proportions of these two sugars are characteristic of the plants the bees fed on to make their honey. It’s the glucose that crystallizes. It’s the natural and spontaneous process of RAW honey. To return the honey to its liquid state, warm up some water in a pot or pan. Add the jar of LGT Honey to the pot or pan. You want the jar to be about 1/2 submerged in water. Stir the honey carefully as it warms, and your honey should return to its liquid state. Be careful, however, not to get water in the honey.
Why does the honey vary in color?
Raw, small batch honey will vary in color and flavor from season-to-season and hive-to-hive. As our bees are free to forage wildly and pollinate whichever flora they choose, the honey characteristics are representative of that freedom. We do not “cut” our honey with any artificial agents to keep uniformity. Our apiaries are rich in Texas Wildflowers, though, and therefore our honey is a flavorful representation of the seasonal varieties.
What is CBD?
Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of many cannabinoid molecules produced by Cannabis, second only to THC in abundance. These naturally occurring cannabinoids, or phytocannabinoids, are characterized by their ability to act on the cannabinoid receptors that are part of our endocannabinoid system. While THC is the principal psychoactive component of Cannabis, CBD is naturally occurring in Industrial Hemp and another familiar plant product, Flax seed.
